Tools: MailChimp, A.Weber, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
I designed the email newsletter for the Gordon Parks Gallery at Metro State University in St. Paul, Minnesota.  I started at the beginning of the year as the newsletter is monthly. It has evolved and had a redesign when we switched email design clients.
When I started, it was being done on MailChimp. The gallery decided they wanted to use a different email design client so I did some research and switched it to AWeber.
The following screenshots are of the old newsletter I put together on Mailchimp using the old layout with assets, images and a press release vs. the new version I designed on AWeber. I also redesigned the masthead.
This is the old masthead using the old logo.
Metro State University went through a rebrand and got a new logo. I designed the masthead to reflect the sleekness of the logo, chose a sans-serif font to echo the logo lettering and kept the color to grey and white as to not fight with the colors of the logo.
The old newsletter with the Mailchimp design. Basic two-column layout.
The new design on AWeber. I lightened the grey and made the main font a bold sans-serif so it was easy to read. I also chose to feature the art larger across two columns so it is easier to see on the screen.
Mailchimp would not allow a two-column design template to change to a one-column design template.
However, A. Weber would allow a two-column design template to change to a one-column design template. It made for a more dynamic presentation.
